  1. Dear Olga,
I am Pirjo and we seem to share professions and interests: teaching miners-to-be and blogging. I teach English in Vocational College Lappi, Tornio,Finland. I have been teaching students of mining industry for several years now - new ideas and sources are most welcome! I see that we use our blogs, well, in the same way on one hand and differently on the other.
Well, to keep this approach short, I just want to enquire, would you be interested in seeing my blog and sharing / creating materials together?
    Best regards,
    Pirjo

    1. Hello Pirjo,
thank you for your interest in my blog! It is such a wonderful opportunity to communicate with people of the same professional interests. I'll be glad to see your blog and share the ideas and materials. Also, we could provide the communication between our students by means of our blogs.
I am in the process of creating my page on wikispaces platform, do you use these tools in teaching practice? Here is the link of my page:

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
      Kind regards,
      Olga

    2. Hello Olga!
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I was really happy to find a person who uses the blog for the same purpose as I do. My blog lies at www.opetukseen.blogspot.fi, should you want to have a look at it. I use the longish texts I have there as listening comprehensions. I read them the text and they fill in the gaps. The texts themselves are from Wikipedia.
I also use a lot of such printed texts I am not allowed to scan but I can copy to my students to read. In such cases the blog serves as material bank for activities concerning those texts - no need to take zillions of copies!
Oh, should you be interested: have you tried Acapela, howjsay or Quizlet - they are my favourites currently! Just Google them out and see for yourself!
I have the miners-to-be three times yet: next Wednesday (Nov 10th) and on Wed and Fri the following week (Nov 17th and 19th). Would you like to ask your students to send messages to those of mine and I could have my students reply to those of your? =) Let's see how this would work? They could talk, say, about their education or the place where they live maybe?
      I love this idea already!
Olga, have a wonderful day at work and be talking to you soon.
      Best regards,
      Pirjo
